With great sorrow, William “Bob” Robert Smedley, 80, of Rockford, Illinois passed away suddenly on July 29, 2024. Bob was born on June 30, 1944, and grew up in a very lively and fun household with Mary Ellen “Mel” and George Thomas “Tommy”. He was generous, charming, compassionate, loving, and above all else, an amazing father, brother, and son. He enjoyed hanging out with
family and friends, barbecuing, and watching the nightly news.
He had four children, Bryon, Laura, Jennifier, and Celesse, who he loved all dearly. Later in his life, he finally was able to meet the love of his life Marilee Robinson.
Bob had the biggest heart and most beautiful soul. His smile would light the room up and his laugh was contagious. He was fearless, independent, and a dreamer. Bob helped people whenever he could and always wanted to do the right thing.
Bob is survived by his sister Mary Ellen, his brother George Thomas, his daughters Laura (Tim), Jennifier (Ben) and Celesse, his son Bryon (Celeste), his grandchildren Joshua (Geneva), Keith, Olivia (Tommy), Ian, Maya, and great grandchildren Shane, Eli, Marcus, Aiden, Bryleigh, Avery, Arielle, and Quinn. He is preceded in death by John (father), Celesse M. (mother), Mary (grandmother), and William G. (grandfather).
