William Schoon

September 16, 1960 — May 4, 2024

William “Bill” E. Schoon, 63, of Rockford, passed away in his home surrounded by his family on May 4, 2024. He was born on September 16, 1960, in Rockford, the son of Richard Schoon and Susan Hood. He worked as a bouncer for 2 Wheel Inn for 10 years. He was also a scrapper, and he met a lot of people while scrapping. Bill was a simple man. He was always there to help anyone with anything. He enjoyed fishing and playing pool. He competed in pool tournaments over the years as well. Bill’s favorite things to do was to spend time with his grandchildren and be called Papa. That name “Papa” gave him life.

Bill is survived by his partner of 40 years, Renee Richardson; children Jennifer (Jimmy) Arnold, Chad (Louise) Richardson, and Heather Murphy, and close nephew Richard Schoon “Little Richie”; grandchildren Britney, Andrew Jr., Hannah, Topanga, Malik, Makil, Camille, Isaiah, A’naya, and Tristan, Jr.; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers Richard (Tina) Schoon and Martin Schoon; nieces and nephews; and his dog Willy. He is predeceased by his father Richard; mother and stepfather Susan and Grover Morelock; and brother Robert Schoon.
