William “Bill” Orr 87 of Rockford passed away suddenly at his home on April 23, 2024. Bill was born on October 19, 1936, to William and Thelma (Archibald) Orr in Philadelphia. He attended Beloit Memorial High School and continued to Beloit College where he received his BA then on to Rockford College where he received his M.Ed.
Bill married the love of his life Suzanne (Sue) Elliott on June 19, 1992, in Rockford. He was a teacher and taught at Shirland School District, Wilson Junior High, Washington Junior High, Roosevelt Junior High with the majority of his career teaching math at Guilford High School. He also was the Assistant Girl's Basketball Coach and 1st Girls Athletic Director. He was an educator for 33 years before retiring in 1993.
After retiring his love for travel took them to 6 continents including numerous trips to Sweden where he fell in love with and adopted Sue's Swedish Heritage and cousins. He also enjoyed European river cruising and Fort Myers Beach Florida.
Bill was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. He was also a Badger fan of all their sports including being a football season ticket holder for 45 years.
Survivors include his loving wife Sue, sister Barbara (Gary) Miller, special nieces and nephews Kim, Missy, Ethan, Ryan and several others, sisters-in-law Pam (Don) Dellamater, Jayme (Don) Erdmann and Joan Orr.
Predeceased by both parents, brother Richard and nephew Christopher Sherman.
