William Hall

December 31, 1969 — March 12, 2021

William (Bill) Cecil Hall passed away on March 12, 2021 at the age of 60, in the comfort of his own home. He had great courage in fighting back during a sudden and severe unexpected illness. Despite the pain and fear, Bill stayed resilient and thankful until the end. Bill was born on December 4, 1960 in Rochelle Illinois. Bill met his soulmate, Alicia (Lisa) Hall at the age of 21 and a few months later, they were happily married on September 12, 1981. Lisa supported his dreams and ambitions every step of the way. Ten years later, they adopted their daughter, Ashley “PeeWee” Hall from South Korea. Bill started his career in mechanics right out of high school, working at Bun Austin Lace Motors Palumbo Motors. In 1985, he went to work at Dixon Publishing Co. as a maintenance mechanic while still turning wrenches at every chance he could get. While still working at Dixon Direct, Bill opened his own automotive shop, known as Hall’s Auto Repair in Franklin Grove. After many years of working two jobs, he took an early retirement from the publishing company and focused on his direct passion, “The Shop”. Throughout the years, he developed a large clientele and many close friends. His “sidekicks” to name a few: Dave Willard, “Coffee” John Penwarden, and Taylor Meyers. Besides his expertise in automotive repair, he was skilled an all trades such as: electrical, plumbing heating and air, construction, etc. evident by his handy-work on his own house. If you have it, he could “DO IT”. Other hobbies he enjoyed include: deep-sea fishing, lounging on his pontoon in the Rock River, spending time cracking jokes with his friends and family, and miscellaneous other adventures they partook during their travels, just maybe not white water rafting. Bill is preceded by his mother, Dorthy (Cravens) Finkle, his grandparents George and Amelia Hall, and his brother-in-law Butch Richard. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Hall, his daughter Ashley Hall, her fiancé Mason Mattox, brother Robert Hall, sister Deborah Cornstubble, father Warren Hall, father and mother-in-law Ronnie & Leona Richard, brother-in-law Bill Richard, sister-in-law Sandy Richard, nieces and nephews Brandon Fowler, Kristy Richard, Kaily Richard, Ethen Fowler, Waylon Ullrich, Traeden Ullrich, Kashton Ullrich, Paisllie Richard, and Emilee Quackburner.
