William Day

March 20, 1946 — December 10, 2023

William “Bill” John Day, 77, of Rockford, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2023. Born March 20, 1946, in Rochester, MN; the son of Arthur Day and Marion (McHenry) Warneka. He served in the US Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, VA. He worked as a machinist in the Navy and throughout his 40-year career.

Survivors include his best friend and ex-wife and soul mate Aileen Day-Diegel; son Rodger (Brenda) Day; grandchildren Alexander Day, Ashley Day, Josh Day, Alanna Uhlig, and Destiny Young; many great-grandchildren; and brothers Robert (Mary) Day and David (Lori) Warneka. He is predeceased by his parents, stepfather Walter Warneka; daughter Michelle Lynn Day; sister Mary Kammerich; and late wife Connie Day.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11 am to 2 pm, Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the American Legion, Post 81207, 1011 S. Alpine Road, Rockford, IL 61108. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 6204 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park. www.statelinecremations.com
