William Crews

December 31, 1969 — February 2, 2022

William “Bill” M. Crews, 68, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Swedish American Hospital. Bill was born on October 7, 1953, in Sycamore, Illinois to Marilyn Peterson and James Crews. Bill attended East High School in Rockford and graduated in the class of 1971. Bill married the love of his life Jill Eberle on May 4, 1991. Bill worked at Estwing in Rockford for 27 years as a milling machine operator. Bill was a huge Green Bay Packers fan and was cheering them on every Sunday.  Bill and Jill enjoyed going to country concerts over the years. Bill still loved listening to his country and blues music and was often seen wearing his headphones relaxing in his chair listening to his favorite songs.  He found great joy in cheering on his grandsons, Zachary and Seth, at their football games. He also enjoyed watching videos of his granddaughter, Kaiya, do competitive dance. Bill and Jill had furbabies over the years and he enjoyed taking them for a walks. Their current furbaby Lydi, was always by his side.  He also enjoyed having conversations with family. He was very witty and always had a quick response--- so much so he was given the nickname Sassy. He liked sharing stories from some of his fondest memories which include spending time at his Uncle Fred's farm as a child, bowling in various leagues, trips to Las Vegas and boating with his friends and family.   When he laughed his face would light up and the laugh would become contagious. Bill overcame many obstacles in his life over the past 20 years especially involving health. His willpower and determination is unmatched. He did not back down and would not give in-- some would say he was stubborn. His love for his immediate and extended family was abundant. Bill is survived by his wife of nearly 31 years, Jill; Son, Ron (Julie) Newman; grandchildren, Zachary, Seth, and Kaiya; sister, Pam (Wes) Swagger; nephews, Thomas Swagger and Nicholas Swagger. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marilyn (Vince) Jacobson, and James; maternal and paternal grandparents; brothers, Rex Jacobson and Robert Jacobson; many aunts and uncles. Per Bill’s wishes, no services will be held. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 712 Windsor Road, Loves Park, Illinois 61111. Statelinecremations.com
