Wiktor Berbeka

Wiktor Berbeka, age 88, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Wiktor was born on September 1, 1937, in Berbeki, Poland, to Franciszek Berbeka and Micalina Grzeszczuk. He proudly served in the Polish military, working across several branches due to his skill as a mechanical engineer, always offering his knowledge wherever it was needed.
While living in Poland, Wiktor enjoyed boxing with friends and later taught his children the sport, often reminding them that he was teaching them “to defend themselves, not to fight.” In 1990, at the age of 53, he immigrated to the United States in search of a better future for his family.
On July 11, 1959, Wiktor married the love of his life, Stanislawa, with whom he shared many years of devotion and partnership. A devoted member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Rockford, Illinois, Wiktor’s faith remained an important part of his life. Though a private man, Wiktor was known for his wonderful sense of humor and one-of-a-kind personality. He was always energetic, independent until the very end, and rarely able to sit still. When he was able, he insisted on driving himself wherever he needed to go. He loved to dance and often spent his evenings going from dance to dance after work, while still making sure to attend church every Sunday morning.
Wiktor was a strong, caring, and generous man. He often spoke of winning the lottery—not for himself, but so his family would never have to work again. A devoted father and grandfather, he was deeply loved and admired by all who knew him. Many would say he was truly a great man and a wonderful man. Wiktor Berbeka will be dearly missed, but his strength, love, and joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Survivors include his children Wiktor's Children: Robert Berbeka and his wife Anna Berbeka, Agata Gibala and her husband Jan Gibala, Bartek Berbeka and his wife Katarzyna Berbeka; Wiktor's Grandchildren: Paulina Belman and husband Eric Belman, Dorota Smith and husband Joshua Smith, Kathryn Gibala and fiancé Caleb Patrick, Agnieszka Siuciak and husband Andrzej Siuciak, Pawel Berbeka and wife Paulina Berbeka, Julia Berbeka; Wiktor's Great Grandchildren: Knox Belman, Elodie Belman, Henry Smith, Rosalind Smith, Marigold Smith, Stella Patrick, Laura Siuciak, Filip Siuciak, Leon Berbeka, and Pola Berbeka; and sister: Teresa Berbeka.
