Virginia Lucille “Lucy” Hazlip, 82, passed away in her home on September 7, 2024. She was born on February 22, 1941, in Centralia, IL; the daughter of Amos and Loya (Milam) Irvin. She married the love of her life, Leland Hazlip, on September 19, 1958, in Centralia. She worked at the Oregon Bakery, was a lab technician for ACME Resin and in her later years she worked as a dietician for the Oregon Living and Rehab Center and the Pinecrest Manor. Lucy enjoyed gardening and canning. She was always on the run and enjoyed staying busy. Lucy and Leland helped start the Cleta Coon Hunting Club and was a member of the Rock River Rider Horse Club. Lucy was a very loving and supportive person and the most important thing to her was her family.
Survivors include her daughter Kim Hazlip-Rowe of Polo, IL; grandsons James Weems of Mt. Morris, IL, and Mark Roy Rowe of Polo, IL; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; sisters Marry Hazlip, of Davis CA, and Patricia (Robert) Gorman of Morrison, FL; brother Frederick (Lori) Irvin Mt. Morris, IL; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; her husband Leland Hazlip; son David Hazlip; grandson Justin Weems; son-in-law Mark L. Rowe; brothers James, Lloyed, and Howard Irvin; and sister Elaine Irvin-Schroeter.
