Thora Cliffe

On Wednesday, November 17, 2022, Thora Jo (Seeley) Cliffe, age 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Thora was born on October 25, 1944, in Prophetstown, IL to Wayne (Doc) and Thora (Wyldman) Seeley.  Thora grew up in Kirkland, IL, and was a graduate of Kirkland High School.  On September 4, 1971, she married Thomas Michael Cliffe Jr. They raised three sons Mike, Rick and Adam, and daughter Kimberly.  Thora spent time doing secretarial work for Northern Illinois University (Dekalb, IL) and the City of Dekalb. She spent 15 years as a manager for McDonalds (Dekalb, IL).  Thora’s many passions include the Green Bay Packers, Chicago White Sox, and being an avid sports fan. She enjoyed scrapbooking, working as gate attendant for Rockford Metropolitan Sports (RMS) Softball tournaments, and spending time at the Rochelle Senior Center with her friends.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Thora is survived by her four children: Mike (Amanda) Cliffe, Rick (Tina) Cliffe, Adam (Amie) Cliffe, and Kimberly (Jim) Hernandez; and 7 grandchildren Rayanne Power, Justin (Janelle) Hernandez, Abby Cliffe, Marcy Cliffe, Carly Hernandez, Matthew Cliffe, and Connor Cliffe Preceded in death by her parents Wayne (Doc) and Thora (Wyldman) Seeley, and husband Thomas Michael Cliffe, Jr. A service will be held on Friday, November 25 th , 2022 at the VFW in Rochelle, IL at 2:00 pm (luncheon to follow).  318 4 th Ave, Rochelle, IL 61068.
