Thomas O'Brien

Thomas James O’Brien passed away at his home in Rockton, IL on December 10, 2025. Tom was born on November 19, 1959, the eighth of twelve children to George and Pauline (Stein) O’Brien, in Rochelle, IL. Tom married Dianna Voss on May 21, 2003. Diana preceded him in death on November 24, 2019. Tom worked in retail automotive and tire business in the Rockford and Rochelle area. He enjoyed golfing, camping, horseback riding, and Disney World.

Tom is survived by his children Christopher (Jamie) O’Brien of Ocala, FL, Jynelle (Jason) Brock of Auburndale, FL; stepchildren Shawna (Brandon) Sedols of Machesney Park, IL, Mark Voss of Machesney Park, IL; his grandchildren Cole, Knox, Daphne, and Noah; sisters Mary Walker of Leesburg, VA, Kathleen (Mike) Dailey of Rochelle, IL, Margaret O’Brien of Holiday, FL, Sharon O’Brien of Rockford, IL, Caroline (Jim) Cappel of Rochelle; brothers Timothy (Beverly) O’Brien of Rochelle, IL, William (Carmen) O’Brien of Marion, IA, and Mark (Debra) O’Brien of Rochelle, IL; sister-in-law Ann O’Brien of Rochelle, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Tom was preceded in death by his wife Diana; parents George and Pauline O’Brien; brothers Patrick, John, and Michael O’Brien, sister-in-law Marcia O’Brien; brothers-in-law Larry Cross, James Walker, and John Conavera; niece Kelly O’Brien; nephews Mark and Alexander O’Brien; and his father and mother-in-law Robert and Janis Wilson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Shawna Sedols and Nicole Gutierrez and Dr. and Mrs. Chaudhry for their friendship and compassionate care they have shown to Tom.
