Thomas C. Maas, age 80, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully in his home, July 12, 2024, after a long battle from 3 prior strokes. Thomas was born May 18, 1944, in Rockford, IL, to Mary L. and Raymond C. Maas of Cherry Valley. Married to Diane Jean (Carlson) Maas who passed away on September 22, 1973, from a short illness.

Thomas is survived by his two daughters Tammy (Bob) Maas Gibler of Pecatonica, IL, and Tracy Maas of Rockford, IL; loving grandchildren Thomas Gibler of Pecatonica, Kristy (Sebastion) Swick of Rockford, Dustin Mckenney of Rockford, Megan Mckenney of Rockford; stepchildren Laura Grass of California and Geoffrey Prentice of Rockford; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Diane; and wife of 37 years Shirley K. Maas.

Thomas worked as a lineman for Commonwealth Edison (Excelon), from which he retired. Thomas was an avid fisherman and had a great love for the outdoors. He enjoyed snowmobiling, bowling, boating, and other activities including travel. The family would like to extend a thank you to daughter Tracy Maas as the caretaker for Thomas, Larry Wooley, and Kristy Swick. They are also grateful for the entire team at St. Croix Hospice, with a special thank you to nurses Jessica and Elana and CNA Laura, for making his last days comfortable and filled with love.

A graveside service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the Winnebago Cemetery, 2024 Westfield Rd., Winnebago, IL. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 6204 Forest Hills Rd, Loves Park, IL 61111. www.statelinecremations.com
