Thomas Carithers

July 31, 1969 — April 28, 2024

Thomas “Tommy” Carithers Jr, 54, passed away after a brief illness on April 28, 2024.  Tommy was born on July 31, 1969, to Thomas Carithers, Sr and Susan Carithers in Galesburg, IL.

Tommy married the love of his life, Laura, in Las Vegas, and spent the best 20 years of his life with her.  He was a bricklayer by trade and specialized in restoration.  His motto was "I make the old beautiful again".

Tommy was one of a kind. He would walk into a room and greet every person with a hug.  It wasn't long after he arrived that everyone was laughing because with the hug, he was already cracking jokes.  He was the guy who'd give you the shirt off his back, even if it meant him leaving without one.  He may have appeared intimidating, but his heart was pure gold.  He had a passion for food, and nothing made him happier than making a meal for the people he loved.  If you have ever tasted his cooking, you were one of the lucky ones.  Tommy had two loves; one for his family and friends; especially his "hunny bunny", and his best bud Tebow, his beloved pit bull. He cherished his wife and literally gushed over her.  Their favorite pastimes were camping on the Sugar River, and spending quality time together.  Tommy was an avid Yankee and Gator fan.   He felt free while riding his motorcycle, sitting by a campfire, and being one with nature.  Our lives are forever changed having this man in our lives and we will cherish our memories until we meet again.  Go ride off into the sunset where you are free of pain.  We love you...

Tommy is survived by his beloved wife Laura, sons Bryce, Rahim, and Teegan; daughters Leticia and Aliyah, father Thomas Sr, sisters Debbie Gamble and Shawna Davis, several nieces and nephews.  Tommy was preceded in death by his mother Susan.

In true Tommy fashion of helping others, he will live on through at least 21 people from his donation to Gift of Hope.  In lieu of flowers, please help Tommy help others by donating to Gift of Hope at www.giftofhope.org .

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 6204 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111. www.statelinecremations.com
