Terry Winchester

January 7, 1945 — January 18, 2026

Terry Wayne Winchester, 81, of Machesney Park, passed away on January 18, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 7, 1945, in Beloit, WI, the son of Charles and Doris (Malhum) Winchester. His family later moved to Hebron, IL. Terry graduated from Hebron High School. He played football, a sport he loved. He had to play both offense and defense as the school didn’t have enough players. His greatest love was cars. He had a 1967 blue Chevell, his pride and joy. He raced go-carts, with Joe Schere, Dick Trickle, and many others at the track in Broadhead, WI.

His first job was at Adams Korn Kernal Company in Beloit, thus his love for corn curls. He was a refrigeration mechanic at Green Giant Company in Belvidere, IL for 30 years, retiring in 2000.
In 1987 he became a member of Rockford Scale Raceway, a remote-control car club. He took over the treasurer position until the club ended. He was a gun enthusiast and belonged to the NRA for 12 years, Illinois State Rifle Association, NIRPC Gun Club, and Pine Tree Pistol Club. He was a loyal and devoted member for their causes. Terry was also an avid Chicago Bears and Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Survivors include his loving wife Patricia; sons Travis (Kelsey) Winchester of Janesville, WI and Shane (Jen) Winchester of Lake Worth, FL; special niece
Krista (Andy) Underhill-Wengen of LaFarge, WI; grandchildren Allison and Shawn Winchester of Lake Worth, FL; Harmonee Wenger of LaFarge, WI; brother Keith (Eileen) Winchester of Wonder Lake, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by everyone.
