Terry Adams

July 8, 1948 — December 27, 2024

Terry “Dean” Adams, AKA The Mayor, 76, of Rockford, passed away on December 27, 2024, in his home. He was born on July 8, 1948, in Peach Orchard, Arkansas; the son of Vester and Leona Mae (Brown) Adams. Dean was married to Donna “Dolly” Bennett. He worked as a welder, carpet layer, and was really a Jack-of-all-trades. Dean was also involved in helping build the Rockford Symbol when he worked for Arntzen Steel. He and Dolly became real estate investors later in life and his handiness was a very valuable trait to have in taking care of his properties. Dean had been a member of the Wig Hill Men’s Club in Rockford. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a golfer, and enjoyed going fishing with his daughter Tashia. He was also a motorcross dad for 10 years taking his son Joey to competitions. Dean was very close to his brothers and sisters and their family always enjoyed a good pig roast.

Survivors include his children Tashia Adams, Tabitha Adams, and Joey Adams; grandchildren Mason, Maliya, Zoe, Ryder, Harlee, and Weston; siblings Larry Adams, Debbie LaFontaine, Michael (Sandy) Adams. And Cyndi (Bill) Nitz; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; wife Donna “Dolly”; and brothers Richard, James, Ron, Doug, and Gene Adams.

A Celebration of Life will be at 3 pm on January 4, 2025, at the St. Ambrosio Society, 802 Monague St, Rockford, IL 61102. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 6204 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111. www.statelinecremations.com
