Teresa Downing, 66, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, due to complications from a stroke.
She was born on July 12, 1959, in Rockford, Illinois, and was raised by her mother, Charlotte Moore Onley, and stepfather, Donald Onley.
Though school had always felt intimidating, Terri overcame her fears and earned multiple associate degrees from Rock Valley College. She proudly graduated alongside her daughter in 2006, a milestone that symbolized not only her perseverance but also the bond and pride she shared with her children
Terri found her greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life—relaxing by the lake, soaking up the sun by the pool, or losing herself in the music at a great concert. She had a private love for writing poetry, a creative outlet she rarely shared but deeply cherished.
She is survived by her children, Jason Downing and Ashley (Johnathon Cyrier) Downing; her siblings Becky Baily, Donna Onley, Penney (Kevin) Henkel, Donny (Dena) Onley, Bill (Michelle) Paris, and Katrina (Steve) Gasser; her long-term boyfriend, Darin Boone; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlotte and Donald Onley; her husband, Kenneth Downing; her sister, Clara Craig; and her niece, Applenie Versai Dainty.
