Susan Kay Lewis, 74, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away on December 7, 2025. She was born on July 2, 1951, to Ival and Lena (Paladino) Kirkpatrick.
Susan was a graduate of West High School. On June 28, 1969, she married the love of her life, Henry Lewis, and together they shared many years of marriage.
Susan dedicated 30 years of service to K-Mart, where she worked as a cashier and held multiple positions throughout her career.
In her free time, Susan loved spending weekends camping at Boone Lake, where she also served as a board member. She enjoyed trips to the casino, especially playing the slot machines, as well as shopping and painting her nails. A true “clothes-horse,” Susan took pride in her style, she also cherished time spent watching football at her sister-in-law Linda’s home, where laughter and family bonds were shared.
Susan will be remembered for her warmth, devotion to family, love of simple pleasures, and her joyful spirit. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Susan is survived by husband of 56 years Henry; daughter Lisa (David) Ortiz; grandchildren Dustin (Jewel) Lewis, David Ortiz, Daniel Ortiz, Brianna Ortiz, Devin Ortiz and Angelina Cypret; eleven great-grandchildren; seven great great-grandchildren; sister Diane Alexander; one niece and three nephews, and her dog Daisy. She is predeceased by her parents; son, Kenneth Lewis; grandson Brandon Lewis; brothers Steven Kirkpatrick, and Michael Kirkpatrick; and her cat Rosie.
A celebration of life will be held at the Fraternal Order Eagle Club, 3829 11th Street, Rockford, IL 61109. December 14, 2025, from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family. 6204 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111. www.statelinecremations.com
