Steven Nelson

Steven B. Nelson, 55, of Rockford, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2022. Born November 8, 1966, in Rockford, the son of Harold and Marion Nelson. Steve was a 1984 graduate of Auburn High School. He proudly served 6 years in the US Navy, spending time in the Persian Gulf Conflict. From completing his service, he worked for IBM for 20 years.  Steve was an avid music fan, and enjoyed going to concerts and traveling to see his favorite band CLUTCH. He loved riding his motorcycle, was a Star Wars fanatic, and had the best sense of humor. He loved spending time with his family, friends, and his special buddy Griffin Vandre.  Steve is survived by his fiance of 29 years, Gayla Megli; father, Harold “Harry” Nelson of Byron; brother, Bob (April) Nelson of Rockford; sister, Beth Nelson of Rockford; nieces and nephews, Lucas, Maxwell, Emily, Kendal, Haedyn, Odyn, and Ju’leah.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Marion; maternal and paternal grandparents. A Celebration of Life for Steve will be held Sunday, August 21, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. at S.M.S.F. Park, 7625 Kishwaukee Road, Stillman Valley, Illinois.
