Steven Lundquist

Steven Bruce "Steve" Lundquist
, 71, of Rockford, IL went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 14, 2024, after suffering a brain aneurysm at OSF St. Anthony Hospital. Born on December 11, 1953, in Rockford, the son of Madelyn "Peggy" and Carl "Bill" Lundquist. Steve's devoted wife, Karen (Nelson) Lundquist and only son, Tyler Lundquist, are heartbroken and will miss their strong and compassionate husband and father.
Known professionally as
"Mr. Steve"
he loved facilitating
fun
with music, magic and ballooning, delighting children and families for over 30 years. He was a fierce competitor in the many
sports
he played, including most recently, pickleball.
"Lunk"
was honored to be selected as an "All Conference" football player for Jefferson High School in 1971
(class of 1972);
to be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at Rock Valley College for having an undefeated football season in 1973; and to have contributed as a goalkeeper on Trinity College's National Championship Soccer Team in 1977. Steve and Tyler shared the love of
football
with a coaching relationship, analyzing plays and rooting for the Chicago Bears. Steve started enjoying
fishing
as a boy and experienced many special times on the water with family and friends throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Karen, and 26-year-old son, Tyler. Other survivors include his sister Nancy (Jim) Kudlacik; nephews Tim (Lisa) Kudlacik, Todd (Adriana) Kudlacik, Andrew (Andi) Leigh; nieces Terry Kudlacik, Traci (Frank) Krumwiede and Amy Wilkins. Other surviving family include several cousins, great nephews and great nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother Gary Lundquist, sister-in-law Nancy Lundquist and parents Carl and Madelyn Lundquist.
Steve expressed his thoughts and feelings by writing poems and songs,
music
being a vital part of who he was. His belief in eternal life through Jesus Christ lead him to write the lyric, "In the presence of the Lord I find grace." In lieu of flowers, Steve would have appreciated donations made to

Celebration of Life
