Stephen Vanderville

Stephen J. Vanderville Sr., of Belvidere, Illinois, passed away in his home on September 16, 2025. He was born on July 27, 1944, in Manistique, Michigan; eldest son of Russell and Velida (Popour) Vanderville. He graduated from Manistique High School in 1962 and soon after moved to the Chicagoland area. He worked as an electrician for the majority of his life.
Steve loved his family so much and enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren immensely. He was consistently there for his family and friends, always eager to offer a helping hand in times of need.
Steve enjoyed fishing, golf, bowling, gardening, cards, gambling, and watching sports. After retirement he stayed active with his many interests which also included building and repair projects.
He is survived by his loving wife, Martha (née Strader) of 50 years, children; Marilyn (née Vanderville) Morgan, Stephen Jr. (Vickie) Vanderville, Matthew (Julie) Vanderville, Laurie (née Hensley) (Mike) Fair, Scott (Connie) Hensley, and daughter-in-law Sonja (née Hamburger) Vanderville. Grandchildren; Desiree (Mark) (née Vanderville) Polt, Selena (née Hensley) Taylor, Justin Vanderville, Stephany Hensley, Michelle (Matt) (née Hensley) Monahan, Angelica (née Alfaro) (Jose) Silva, Samantha Vanderville, Renae (née Alfaro) (William) Surén, Heather Morgan, Daniel Morgan, Kyle Morgan, Kailee Garza, Jake Garza, Benjamin Vanderville, and Zachary Vanderville. 18 Great grandchildren, brothers, Rodger (Jean) and Victor (Sharon) Vanderville, and sister Glenda (née Vanderville) (Joe) Francis, and Sister-in-law, Janet (née Strader) Day, numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Russell and Velida (née Popour) Vanderville, son, Russell E. Vanderville, daughter Lisa (née Hensley) Alfaro, sisters Lorina (née Vanderville) (Jim) Labadie and Sandy (née Vanderville) (Ed) Price and grandson-in-law Dave Taylor.
