Shirley M. Vincer of Rockford, IL passed away at the age of 87 surrounded and comforted by her loving family on May 6, 2025. She was born on November 21, 1937, the daughter of Rose and Ernest Clark. Shirley was married to the love of her life, Ronald P. Vincer, for 65 years before his passing in 2022. Shirley had many jobs during her lifetime until she retired from Unison Industries.
Shirley was a selfless woman who always took care of others before herself. She spent years happily caring for her mother, mother-in-law, grand kids and great grand kids. Shirley enjoyed hosting family gatherings where everyone was welcomed with hugs and satisfied with the abundance of delicious food, especially her famous potato salad. She also made a wonderful spaghetti sauce, which we tried to duplicate with her recipe. However, it never tasted like hers. A grandson suggested that ours was missing her special ingredient: love. Shirley enjoyed conversation, laughter and wine with her daughters Ronda and Kim. Until a few months ago, Shirley was still getting together with girlfriends, some who she knew since middle school. Shirley delighted in her annual Italian Christmas cookie making day with her daughter Ronda and daughter-in-law Tracy. Shirley loved her family with all of her heart and soul.
Shirley also liked to travel. She and Ron spent many weekends in Geneseo, IL, visiting family and friends. Her favorite vacation was a Carribean cruise that her and Ron took with Ronda and Pat. They had fun times in the Wisconsin Dells with Ronda, Kim and their families. Shirley and Ron also took many vacations with Brian and Tracy. She especially enjoyed the trips to Las Vegas where she could play her favorite slot machines.
During the past two and a half years, Shirley grew extremely close to her son Brian. She was so blessed by the way he guided and supported her and took care of her and her home, making it safe for her to live independently. Shirley could count on Brian, Tracy, Ronda and Pat for meeting all of her needs. Shirley would definitely want to thank them for making her life fulfilling, fun and comfortable. The family would like to thank Hope Hospice, and her niece Dawn, for caring for Shirley in her last days. Shirley was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother whose hugs, quiet presence and love will be greatly missed.
Shirley is survived by her daughters Ronda (Pat) Owens, and Kimberly Kemppainen, and her son Brian (Tracy) Vincer. Shirley also had 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Ron, her parents, brother Tony Manzullo, and sisters Kathleen Puckett and Carol Baney.
