Shirley Dieterman

September 3, 1948 — January 18, 2025

Shirley Marie Dieterman of Rockford, IL passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025. She was born on September 3, 1948, in WI to Bernard and Margaret (Ihus) Heinz. Shirley had a loving heart and cared for many foster children. She was at her happiest when helping others. She enjoyed many different pets over the years including ferrets, birds, cats and her beloved Chihuahuas. She loved working with stained glass and had a passion for plants and flowers. She was a true artist when it came to designing flower gardens. Shirley will forever be remembered for her red hair and the many different hats she loved to wear.

Shirley is survived by three children, Peggy Jo of Rockford; Bernie (Dawn) Scharr of Indiana; Louie (Kathleen) Scharr of Machesney; six grandchildren, Brandon (Katie) Scharr; Lucas Scharr; Rachel Scharr; Samantha (Zachary) Lawson; Carli Wise (Austin Vyborny); Levi Scharr; six great grandchildren; sister, Susan (Dick) Smith; brother, Leroy Heinz; and numerous friends and extended family.

Shirley is predeceased in death by her parents; daughter Anna Wise; and nephew Chad Smith.
