Shelly Proper

Shelly Marie Proper, 53, of Loves Park, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Javon Bea Hospital. Shelly was born on August 27, 1968, in Rockford, Illinois, to Mary (Diane) Schneider and William McAlister. Shelly attended Harlem High School, graduating class of 1986. After high school, Shelly completed cosmetology school. Through the years, Shelly also took on the role of a caregiver. On June 8, 2012, Shelly married Earl Proper Sr. Shelly was a member of Saint Bridget’s Catholic Church.  Shelly took a special interest in cross stitching, sewing, and baking. She loved cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. Shelly will be deeply missed by many.  Shelly was survived by her husband of nine years, Earl Proper Sr.; mother, Diane (Burt) Roush; sisters, Vickie McAlister and Tina Randolph; children, Casey (Brittany) McAlister, Katlyn McAlister, Kane McAlister, Earl (Courtney) Proper Jr., Joseph (Brianna) Proper, Harley (Nicole) Proper, Seles (Tigre) Maldonado, close cousin (but considered a daughter), Ashley Schneider; family friend (but considered a son), Teddy Hardy Jr.; 10 loving and spirited grandkids; nephew, Zach Randolph; close friends, Cammy and Diana.  Shelly was preceded in death by her father, William McAlister; Paternal and Maternal grandparents; mother-in-law Margaret Torres; 3 beautiful grandchildren.  A celebration of life for Shelly will take place from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Forest Hills Lodge, 1601 West Lane Road, Loves Park, Illinois, 61111.
