Sharon Kay Wakenight, 67, of Rockford, passed away on May 21, 2021 in her home after a long illness. Born July 17, 1953 in Rockford; daughter of James and Arlene (Distin) Rogers. Sharon married Kim Wakenight on March 18, 1972. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and was an excellent cook. She loved playing Scrabble with her BFF Debbie and traveling with her husband Kim, especially to concerts for her love of music. She also appreciated a good movie, her favorites being the Wizard of Oz and It’s a Wonderful Life, and of course spending time with her cats. Sharon is survived by her loving husband Kim; son Bradley James Wakenight; siblings Pam (Max) Snead and Greg (Cindy) Rogers; several nieces and nephews; her fur babies Ringo, Pepper, and Big Guy; and dear friends Debbie Payne and Debbie Ostberg. She is predeceased by her parents; infant daughter Jennifer Lynn Wakenight; and siblings Paul and Linda Rogers. There will be no services at this time. The family would like to request that memorials be sent to Noah’s Ark in Sharon’s name, 111 North First Street, Rockford, IL 61107.
