Sharon Habing, age 75, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away on July 31, 2023. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend; she is at rest after decades of relentlessly battling Parkinson’s Disease.
Sharon was born August 28, 1947, the daughter of the late Leonard and Irene (Bloom) Yost. She met future husband Thomas Habing while at Northern Illinois University, and they were married for 53 years. She was beloved wife and daughter; mother of Brian (Geeia) Habing, Joy (Shane) Lindquist, and Jill (Steve) Johnson; grandmother to Jessica, Jennifer, Joshua, and Kevin; great-grandmother to Emily, Lilly, Riley, Zoey, Chloe, and Alana; sister to Cindy (Wayne) Nevsimal and the late Marilyn Murphy; aunt to Ryan and Rachael and countless nieces and nephews on the Habing side of the family.
Sharon especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including playing cards and miniature golf. She was an avid seamstress, gardener, and baker, planner of many family vacations, member of Zion Lutheran Church, and long-time leader of the Young Parkinson’s support group in Rockford. A memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Rockford, IL on Friday, August 4th with visitation at 1:00pm and service at 2:00pm, followed by ice cream.
