Scott Takamoto, 66, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 15, 2025, at the Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL, after a long battle with diabetes. Scott accepted Jesus Christ into his heart as his savior and has gone home to join his loved ones. Scott was born on August 17, 1958, in Rockford, IL; the son of Ernest and Bonnie (Chapman) Takamoto.
Scott graduated from John Marshall High School in Indianapolis, IN, and attended Rose Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, IN. He used his talents and love of electronics and technology to build computers for friends and family.
He loved cars and electronics, movies, and music, and being uncle was one of his greatest joys. He was kind and generous, and the quiet one in the back, making sure that everyone had what they needed. He was a protector and was always willing to help where there was a need. He married the love of his life, Heather, and had the family that he so longed for.
Scott is survived by his wife Heather (Zweifel) Takamoto; mother-in-law Harriet Zweifel; children AnneMarie Binger and Michael Morrisett; sisters Melody (Robert) Prestifilippo, Penny (Reyle) Cardino; nieces and nephews Brittani (Jacob), Jerome (Mara), Robert (Rika), Nathalie (Tripp), Tom (Mike), and Joshua; grand nieces and nephews Jaidyn, Kaenyn, Kamryn, Ryland, Aria, Kayson, Ezra, and Miles. Scott is predeceased by his father and mother Ernest and Bonnie (Chapman) Takamoto; and father-in-law Steven Zweifel.
The family will have a private graveside service and celebration of life for Scott, who will be placed to rest near his two dogs and father-in-law. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 6204 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111.
