Scott Anton Peterson, 63, of Machesney Park, Illinois, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. Scott was born on August 30, 1959, in Rockford, Illinois, to Burdette and Lois Peterson. He grew up and lived most of his life in Machesney Park, Illinois where he was in the class of 1977 from Harlem High School. As a longtime field service engineer, Scott was employed at Pfauter-Maag of Loves Park, Illinois, and later Liebherr of Saline, Michigan. As a longtime sports fan, Scott loved the Bears, Blackhawks, and the Cubs. He also enjoyed spending his spare time golfing or cruising around in his 1969 AMC Rambler. Scott loved to travel, he has visited every state in the US with the exception of Alaska, and also loved visiting Germany and Asia.
Scott is survived by his son, Brent (Cristin Plock) Peterson of Machesney Park, Illinois; daughter, Erin (Scott) McCormick of Mount Washington, Kentucky; son Andrew (Dio) Peterson of Texas; siblings, Ken Peterson of Leesburg, Florida; Mark (Rose) Peterson of Cromwell, Indiana; Ross (DeAnna) Peterson of Machesney Park, Illinois; grandchildren Blake McCormick, Adilyn McCormick, Mia Peterson; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; dog Brisket. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Burdette and Lois Peterson, along with beloved pets Sampson and Rugby. The family will be holding a small private service.
