Sarah Codina

Sarah Elaine Codina, 44, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023. Born December 20,1978, in Rockford, IL to David Codina and Margaret “Peggy” Muraski-Luter. Sarah graduated from East High School in 1997 where she participated in cheer and other activities. She served in the United States Air Force from 2000 to 2001.
Sarah enjoyed puzzles, painting, writing poetry and listening to music. She volunteered at the Veterans Drop-in Center, enjoyed preparing her famous cheesecake for her family and friends, and was an advocate for people with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. She was very proud of her children; her daughter for joining the military and her son for his fishing skills.
Survived by her children, Alida MacKenzie Barrett, and Richard Jackson “RJ” Parrott; father, David (Janice) Codina; mother, Margaret “Peggy” Muraski-Luter; sisters Theresa Dittbenner, Rebekah Reed, and Amanda Vincent; stepbrothers Jason Luter, Jesse (Wendy) James, Justin (Monica) James; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and special family friend, Kristine Spivey.
Predeceased by her grandparents; Frank and Amparo Codina, Walter and Ruth Muraski, stepfather; Greg Luter, uncle Walter Muraski, Jr.; and beloved dog, Baybee. Special thanks to the Critical Care Unit and Heart Hospital team at UW Swedish American and Northern Illinois Hospice.
