Ruth Fisher

December 21, 1939 — September 26, 2024

Ruth Janet Fisher, 84, of Rockford, passed away on September 26, 2024, in her home. She was born on December 21, 1939, in St. Joseph, Missouri, the daughter of Norman W. and Geraldine V. Myers. Ruth graduated from Hughes High School in Cincinnati, OH, class of 1957. She received her Associates Degree of Arts in 1960 from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. Ruth retired as an executive secretary at UIC College of Medicine, in Rockford where she worked from 1972 to 2000. She also worked part time for Sears from 1973 to the ‘90’s. She was a volunteer for the PTA in the Rockford Schools and was involved in local politics from the 1970’s to the 1990’s. Ruth was raised in the Community of Christ in Cincinnati, OH and in Rockford she attended Christ the Carpenter Methodist Church from the 1970’s to the 1990’s. She enjoyed playing the piano and loved music and singing. She was an avid reader and gardener.

Her survivors include her brother Norman Myer, Jr.; daughter Allison (Jerry) Felton; granddaughter Erin Felton-Cunningham; and great-granddaughters Elise and Elexis “Lexi” Cunningham. She is predeceased by her parents Norman and Geraldine Myers; son William Robert “Rob” Fisher; and great-grandson Ethan M. Cunningham.

There will be no funeral per Ruth’s request. She was cremated and will be interred at a family cemetery on her family’s farm in Brookville, IN. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 6204 Forest Hills Rd, Loves Park, IL 61111. www.statelinecremations.com
