Roy G. Rummel, 79, of Belvidere, passed away on July 11, 2024, with family by his side. Born February 28, 1945, in Freeport, IL; the son of George and Etta (Britsch) Rummel. Roy married Ruth L. Hodgson on June 9, 1968, in Seward, IL. He owned Roy’s Barber Shop in Leaf River and German Valley. He also worked for Micro Switch in Freeport. Roy and Ruth started their own shop called Rummel’s Barn in Seward, IL. They sold antiques, gifts, and had a café. Roy specialized in floral design and that was also part of Rummel’s Barn. He was a member of North Grove Evangelical Church in Forreston and attended church at Grace Valley Christian Reformed Church in German Valley. Roy loved to garden raising vegetables and flowers. He and Ruth also enjoyed traveling together. Roy loved anything that had do with Christmas, whether is was decorating, watching Christmas movies, or celebrating with family.
Survivors include his wife Ruth; children Amy (Mike) Pearse, Ryan (Lynette) Rummel, and Erin (Jeff) Greenfield; grandchildren Eric Pearse, Chase (Cassi Tippett) Huneke, Jade (Mariah Katzenberger) Huneke, Reid Huneke, Sage Huneke, Curtis and Samuel Rummel, and Ethan and Owen Greenfield; great-granddaughter Willow Huneke; siblings Doris (Gary) Hollewell and Wayne (Cathy) Rummel; 1 niece and 3 nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and beloved daughter Kelli Huneke.
