Ronald D. Pettit of Rockford, IL passed away on Nov 1, 2022 at Swedish American Hospital with family at his side. He was born February 17, 1948 in Milwaukee, WI. Ron was the son of Carroll and Marvel Mattox. He grew up on a farm in the Beloit area, attending Clinton schools. Ron was employed by Gates Rubber for several years as a supervisor and Rockford Screw as production planner. Later he cooked for the residents of the Luther Center and Anam Glen.  He enjoyed cooking, antiquing, driving his Cadillac, family gatherings, and especially the Christmas gag gifts. Ron always had a story to tell with his good sense of humor and laugh. He loved to travel to visit relatives in other states. Survivors include his sisters and brother, Joyce (Ralph) Bovee of Beloit, WI, Karyn Schultz of Fort Collins, CO, Stephen (Carol) Mattox of Lubbock, TX; his nieces and nephews, Cindy Bovee, Candy (Michael) Johns, Jeff (Rouselle) Bovee, Melany (David) McGrath, Sheryl Gasparik, Derek Schultz, and Colleen (Andy) Keppley, Brian Mattox, Brandon (Jamie) Mattox, Patricia Austin, Luke Mattox; several grandnieces and nephews, great-grandnieces and nephews; and many cousins, all whom he loved. His relatives live in states all across the country including IA, TX, CO, NY, VA, NC, WV, PA, IN, IL, WI, MN, NE, AZ, to WA, and the country of Thailand. He was predeceased by his loving parents, brother Daniel L. Mattox, brother-in-law Maynard Schultz, niece Krista Schultz, nephew-in-law Lee Gasparik. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a future date for the family.
