Ronald Lee Brooks, 75, of Rockford, died at 4:20 am, Friday, May 24, 2024, at Alden Debes Transitional Care. Born May 31, 1948, in Rockford, IL. The first born and only son of Van Buren and Geneldia (Creason) Brooks. Graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, beginning at 50+ years of a successful career in design, retiring in 2021. Ron’s talent and creativity was evident in all areas of his life, from designing home interiors to setting beautiful tables for dinner parties. Met his partner, George Lerret in January of 1999 and married in December of 2015. Their December union prompted 25 years of annual Holiday celebrations that were fun and festive. Together they made life beautiful for themselves and all who they touched and influenced.
Survivors include his husband, George Lerret of Rockford, IL; sisters Karen Brooks of Rockford, Mary Lou (Steve) Cacciatore of Key Largo, FL, Debra Brooks of Rockford; brother-in-law Joe (Ardis) Lerret of Menominee, MI; nephews Christopher Cacciatore, and Henry Lerret; nieces Carly (Mike) Cacciatore Williamson, Janice Lerret, and Mary Lerret; great-nephew Devin Williamson; and great-niece Hayley Williamson. He is predeceased by his parents.
