Robert Rosander

Robert J. Rosander, 74, of Caledonia, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024, at his home. Born on April 18, 1950, to Bertil and Sophie (Toleski) Rosander in Rockford, Illinois. Bertil Rosander was a former state senator. Robert grew up in Rockford and graduated from East High School. He worked as a substitute teacher and swim instructor in the area. He also served as an Alderman for the city of Rockford. An avid Chicago Bears fan and dedicated father, always attending his children’s sporting events. Above all else, he was a fisherman, spending many years fishing in Green Lake, Wisconsin, where he also loved boating on his pontoon. Biking, exploring the outdoors, and using his CB radio were some favorite pastimes. He is loved and missed by many.

He is survived by his children, Steve Rosander, Alex Rosander, and Katie Rosander; grandchildren Amelia and Wyatt; sister Carol (Donnie) Roberts; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends. Robert is predeceased by his parents and sister Linda Strait.

A Celebration of Life will be from 10 am to noon on September 28, 2024, at the City First Leadership Building, 5950 Springcreek Road, Rockford, IL, located between City First Church and Guilford High School.
