Robert Lapier

July 31, 1961 — February 16, 2024

Robert A. LaPier, Jr., 62, of Machesney Park, passed away unexpectedly on February 16, 2024. Born July 31, 1961, in Rockford; the son of Robert Sr., and Norma (Donovan) LaPier. Robert worked as an automotive service writer. He was very involved in auto racing for most of his life. He was a racecar driver at Rockford Speedway as well as other tracks in the circuit. He went on to mentor other drivers that were coming up the ranks. He also enjoyed traveling and going to casinos. He used to go dancing in his younger years.

Survivors include his siblings Diane Erickson, Denise (Jack) Moore, Donna (Gary) Demond, Robin Gagliano, and Dana (Joyce) LaPier; longtime special friend Linda Yender; numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Robert and Norma; brother Dave (Gayle) LaPier; and niece Dawn Watson.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11 am to 4 pm, Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the American Legion of Rockton, 221 W. Main St., Rockton, IL 61072. Casual attire is requested.
