Robert "Bob" N. Schmidt, Jr, 71, loving husband, brother, father and Papa passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 4, 2025. Bob was born on May 6, 1953, in East Saint Louis, IL to Robert N. Schmidt Sr and Doris Joan "Jo" (Dean) Schmidt. Before becoming ill with Parkinson's in 2003, Bob was always on the go either rockin' the drums in numerous bands throughout the years, riding his bike everywhere or playing basketball and baseball, but nothing was more important than spending time making memories with his grandkids.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Robert N. Schmidt Sr and Doris Joan "Jo" (Dean) Schmidt; and sister Kathy Beyer.

Bob is survived by his wife Karen Schmidt; children Tisha (Jesse) Hendricks, Melanie Monroe, Shane Monroe, Amanda Gibson and Bobby Schmidt III; grandchildren Nathan Monroe, Faith Monroe, Jacob Monroe, Brian Hendricks, David Hendricks, Marlena Gibson and Gracie Schmidt; siblings Karen Guler, Kirk (Linda) Schmidt, Karla (Jim) Drehoble, Holly Patterson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob will be dearly missed by his family. A celebration of life will be held on May 11th, 2025, at the VFW Post 5149 (922 7th St, Rockford, IL 61104) from 12:00-4:00 PM. All are welcome and invited. In lieu of flowers, the family would love for you to share any photos, videos and memories you have of Bob.
