Robert Lee Eldridge, 79, of Rockford, went home to be with our Lord on December 22, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 7, 1946, in Beloit, Wisconsin. The son of Robert and Barbara (Boss) Eldridge. Robert served as a US Marine and then married Gloria Davis on January 21, 1967, in South Carolina.
Robert and Gloria owned and operated Eldridge Precision Grinding. He was a member of Fraternal Order of the Eagles Club and Air One Rescue. He enjoyed flying radio-controlled airplanes and helicopters. Shortly after he started flying real airplanes and helicopters. Robert stayed very active when he was younger. He enjoyed boating, skiing, and loved having a pool to have family over for get-togethers. He enjoyed playing guitar and traveling. Robert and Gloria attend Maywood Evangelical Free Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Gloria; daughters Kim Lapour and Stacey (Jeff) Slayton; grandchildren Andrew (Lindsey) Lapour, Jacob Lapour, Shawna Slayton, and Branden Slayton; great-grandchildren Carter, Logan, Lexi, Jaycee, Nyaira, Noah, and Ryker; siblings Duane and Richard Eldridge, and Dianne Musser; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; and brothers Tom, Jerry, and Michael Eldridge.
A Memorial will be held at 11 am, on January 5, 2025, at Maywood Evangelical Free Church, 3621 Samuelson Rd., Rockford, IL 61109. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time.
