Robert Walter Budzyn, 87, of Poplar Grove, IL passed away peacefully at his daughter's home on February 8, 2025. Robert was born on August 6, 1937, in Chicago, Il., a beloved son of Ester Johnson.
Robert met the love of his life Diane at high school and was married for 63 years. He worked at various jobs and dedicated 15 years to the National Guard.
Robert spoke his mind - if you didn't know him, he may have seemed a little fierce, but he was really softhearted and generous, donating blood for many years. He had many great friends that he enjoyed visiting with.
He loved fishing and would spend many happy hours doing that. He was a great woodworker and
he made beautiful jewelry boxes that he would gift to family and friends.
In later years home was Florida with Diane, and he spent many happy days in the American Eagles club.
He cared for his family and was very proud of his grandson, but the
last years without Diane and his beloved dog Zitti were hard. In November he reconfirmed his faith and told his family he was ready to go home.
He is survived by his children Lori (Patrick) Barker and Robert Budzyn Jr; his grandson Tristian Barker (significant other, Megan); brother Therwian Budzyn; and many friends that were like family. He was preceded in death by his wife Diane, mother Ester Johnson; and sister Dessa (Mark) Van Schuyver.
A Memorial Service will be March 15th. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 6204 Forrest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111. www.statelinecremations.com
