Richard D Sherrard

Richard Donald Sherrard, 65, of Rockford, passed away on August 3, 2026, at P. A. Peterson, after complications of a long-term illness. He was born on August 10, 1960, in Rockford, the son of Donald and Cherrie Sherrard.

Richard graduated from high school and attended college. Rich owned his own auto mechanic shop, Roscoe Automotive. He married Devona C. Sherrard on August 11, 2007. Richard was a collector at heart, enjoying many things, including coins, sports cards, knives, tools, and die-cast cars. He loved fishing, especially his fishing trips to Canada. Richard was also a talented singer who enjoyed karaoke. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family and adored his three grandchildren, who brought him great joy.

Survivors include his wife Devona Sherrard; son Jeramie Sherrard; stepsons Matthew Wrage and Branden (Kayla) Wrage; grandchildren Brinley, Brayen, and Charlotte Wrage; sister Linda Carlson; and numerous nieces and nephews; his 3 best friends that he loved very much, Thomas Smith, Michael Cousin, and his longest friend George Navickis. He is predeceased by his parents Donald and Cherrie Sherrard; sisters Betty Zakosky, Lillian Escamillo, and Mary Dunn.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 5 pm, Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the VFW, Roscoe Post 2955, 11385 2nd St. Roscoe, IL 61073. Thomas Smith will do a Eulogy at 1:15 pm and the floor will be open for others to speak and prayer before dinner is served.
