Richard Decker, 69, of Rockford, passed away on November 27, 2025, in his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 21, 1956, in Rockford, the son of Bill and Katie (Gagliano) Decker. He was a high school graduate and worked as a private contractor most of his life. His last job was working for Vtech Corvette fixing Corvette parts. Richard married the love of his life, Sandra Duncan, on October 30, 1982, and she passed away September 6, 2012. He has been lost without her ever since.
Richard enjoyed working on cars and watching old western movies in his free time. Coming from a big Italian family, he learned to make his own sauce. He let that sauce cook all day and would make the best spaghetti and meatballs and lasagna. Richard loved his family and they would always be his priority.
Survivors include his children Brandi Matthews, Rick (Brenda) Matthews, and Jeremy Walker; grandchildren Michelle Decker, Gavan Matthews, Aviana Argumedo, Malyk Matthews, Trenton Mattnews, Madisyn Matthews, Austin Matthews, Alicia Collins, and Kayden Walker; several great grandchildren; and several cousins. He is predeceased by his parents; his wife Sandra Decker; and cousin Jackie Chemello who he loved as a sister.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am, Friday, December 12, 2025, at Creekwood Baptist Church, 5973 Darlene Drive, Rockford, IL 61109. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 6204 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111. www.statelinecremations.com
