Rhoda Jeannine Johnson

August 13, 1938 — December 14, 2025

Rockford

Rhoda “Jeannine” Johnson, 87, of Rockford, passed away on December 14, 2025, at Serenity Home in Oregon, IL. She was born on August 13, 1938, in Rockford, the daughter of Ira and Rhoda (Sundquist) Anderson. Jeannine graduated from East High School in 1956.

On August 13, 1964, Jeannine married Tom Johnson. She began her career as a secretary at General Electric and later owned her own business specializing in wallpaper installation and painting. Jeannine was active in her community, volunteering with the Women’s Auxiliary of the Lombardi and Lyran Clubs. She was also a member of Tabor Lutheran Church before its closing. Jeannine was known as a social butterfly, whether spending time at the Lombardi or Lyran Clubs or relaxing at her trailer on Lauderdale Lakes in Wisconsin. Friends often compared her to Lucille Ball for her lively spirit and love of fun—always making sure everyone around her was having a good time. She enjoyed baking Swedish coffee cake and watching political programs on television.

Jeannine is survived by her daughter, Coleen Masterson; daughter-in-law, TeriJo Johnson; stepsons Greg (Teri) and Mike (Julie) Johnson; grandchildren Mitchell and Matthew Masterson, Anika, Maximus, and Hadyn Johnson, Ranae and Ryan Johnson, and Julianne and Kaitlyn Johnson; as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom Johnson; her son, Tom “Tucker” Johnson; and brothers Jack and Jerry Anderson.

Jeannine will be remembered for her vibrant personality, generosity, and love of family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be from 3 to 6 pm, Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the Lombardi Club, 309 Olive St., Rockford, IL 61107. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 6204 Forest Hills Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111. www.statelinecremations.com
