Rebecca Durick

Rebecca “Becky” (McFadden) Durick, passed away on December 31, 2025, from stage 4 stomach cancer. Becky was a lifelong resident of the great state of Illinois. Growing up in northern Illinois she felt a strong connection to the area. Becky was a 1996 graduate of Hononegah High School. She graduated from RVC in 2000 and finished her education at the University of Springfield in 2002. In 2003, Becky had a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, losing over 350 pounds. Becky returned to the Rockford area in 2008, where she became a friend of Bill W. Becky maintained her sobriety.

After college, Becky began her lifelong adventures in social work. Becky gave a piece of her heart to every client she served in many different settings through the years. Becky’s lifelong career goal was to become a guardian representative with the Office of State Guardian. Becky achieved her dream in 2022 and even after years of working, still loved waking up and going to advocate as a guardian.

In 2011 Becky met the love of her life, Kevin Durick. They started dating in 2012 and then they married on November 15, 2014. Becky and Kevin have 2 children, Lilly who is 11 and Shaun who is 3. They were the light of Becky’s life.

Survivors include her husband Kevin; children Lilly and Shaun; sister Kari (Chris) Gates; niece and nephews Addison Gates, Gabe Gates, and Gavin Gates; mother and father-in-law Robbie and Tom Sewell; sister-in-law Carey (Jeff) Nelson, and Max the cat. She is also survived by her Snygg family and Barton family. Becky was predeceased by her father Gary, grandma Lillian Rose, uncle Mark, aunt Rhonda, Homer the cat and Rocky puppy.

Becky was estranged from some of her family members since 2020. Becky wishes to remain estranged from those family members during her services.

Memorials can be made to an education fund for Lilly and Shaun or Harlem School District young athletes through Special Olympics for ages pre-k through 1st grade. Becky wanted to make sure her son Shaun has every opportunity that a traditional school cannot provide for his needs.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Monday, January 12, 2026, at Grace Lutheran Church, 343 Grand Ave., Loves Park, IL 61111. There will be a visitation from 1 pm until time of service.
