Rachel Hardin

Rachel Marie Hardin, 33, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021, in Rockford, Illinois. Rachel was born to Laurina Merrithew and David Hardin in Rockford on September 20, 1988. Rachel graduated high school in 2006 in Surry County, North Carolina. Rachel adored all animals, but especially horses. She even became a horse trainer and fell in love with Rodeo Barrel Racing. Rachel also took up a special interest in fixing cars. She enjoyed both participating and watching drag racing. Rachel loved her family dearly and spent as much time as possible with them. She was incredibly close to her cousin, Sarah Venable, and her aunt Karen Keenan of Hendersonville, Tennessee. Rachel is survived by her parents, Laurina Merrithew and David Hardin; step-parents, Dean Merrithew and April Hardin; children, Tristan Lineback, Logan Shore, Desmond Nicholls, and Jackson Nicholls; grandparents, Richard and Margaret Nicholls, Douglas and Patricia Hardin; special Aunt, Karen Keenan; special Cousin, Sarah Venable; many aunts, uncles and cousins. The family and friends of Rachel would like to extend their gratitude for Pastor Jeremiah Griffin of Living Stones Church- where Rachel was a member, and Northern Illinois Hospice for their love and support in this challenging time. A memorial service for Rachel will be held in the spring of 2022. A date will be announced in the coming months.
