Paul Warren Condon was born on September 18, 1947, in Morristown, New Jersey. From his boyhood he loved adventures in the outdoors. This led him to many athletic pursuits. Paul graduated from Wheaton Central High School (Wheaton, Illinois) where he was a part of the wrestling team. At Greenville College (Greenville, Illinois) Paul played soccer and majored in physical education. Upon graduation he accepted a position at Perry Elementary School in Belvidere, Illinois. Paul was a beloved teacher of elementary and middle school students in Belvidere for his entire teaching career. While teaching and coaching girls track and cross-country, he had the opportunity to become a respected mentor to the many students that he taught. Paul was loved by his colleagues, students and their parents.
Throughout his life he was an avid runner, rock climber, spelunker, and biker. He participated in eleven marathons. He rode nine Denver Post Ride the Rockies tours. He constantly improved his rock-climbing skills in adventures at Devils Lake, Wisconsin, Custer State Park, South Dakota and in Colorado to name a few. He thrilled his Perry Elementary students rappelling off the school building dressed as Spiderman for Halloween.
Paul enjoyed sharing his outdoor adventures with a wide circle of friends. Two of his favorite places to go in his retirement were Mesa, Arizona (Cubs Spring Training) and the Hawaiian Islands.
He challenged himself in his spiritual growth through his Church community. He was a generous giver to many Christian organizations in order to further the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Jean Condon and his eldest brother David. He was the beloved brother of Mark Condon (Laurie) as well as the beloved uncle of his nephew Caleb Condon (Geni) and niece Ariana Condon Garlt (Clayton). He will also be missed by his grandnieces Evelyn, Olivia, and Isla Condon, and Bella and Lili Garlt.
Paul’s Celebration of Life Service will be February 1,2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Forest City Church, 1280 S. Alpine Rd., Rockford, IL 611108. A mid-afternoon fare will be served immediately following the service.
