Patricia Helen Glover-Miles

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Patricia Helen Miles (maiden name, Glover). She went comfortably, surrounded by her family and friends, in her home on June 19th, 2025. She was born in Leicester, England, on May 31st, 1937, predeceased by: her parents Anna Mae (Henson) and Clifford Glover, brother Clifford (Helen) Glover, brother Brian (Carole) Glover, and Sister Wendy Glover, formerly married and predeceased by William C. Miles. She is survived by daughters Karen (Wayne) Naleway and Lisa (Scott) Miles, grandchildren Jessica Richter, Amber Naleway, Greg (Deanna) Richter, Jaime (David) Ray, Dannielle (Dirk Munson) Richter, Hannah Richter, and ten great-grandchildren, as well as multiple lifelong friends Pat, Margaret, Lu, and Suzanne.

Pat grew up in post-World War II England and forever remained proud of her British heritage. Pat endured tremendous challenges in her youth, including the upheaval of normality, rations and shortages, as well as untold grief and fear. It was only through her unfailing faith in Jesus Christ that she overcame these many obstacles and developed a passion for volunteering. Early on, she left her first church, The Salvation Army, and joined the Church of England, known in the USA as the Episcopal Church.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved to tell stories of her life. She was a dancer, a singer, a drummer, a sister, a daughter, a mother, and a devoted follower of Christ. Many of her stories were of growing up in England, including getting only 1 orange, 1 sweet, and 1 small toy at Christmas time. Other stories included falling into a bomb shelter and nearly losing her arm. She would tell you, "I was always in the wars" in the British accent she never lost. The thing she talked about most was the time and work she did as a volunteer. Charity work began in girlhood and continued all her life. She was a scout master in England, later a troop leader in America. She was a volunteer chaplain at Rockford Memorial Hospital. She served on countless boards and committees at church, including faithfully bleaching and ironing the linens for the altar every week at St. Chad's Episcopal Church. She had a passion for mental health and taught family-to-family classes for NAMI in Rockford, IL. Pat sought to give back to her community in everything she did.

She raised 2 daughters during the 60's and 70's while working in various restaurant positions, eventually training the service staff for The Mayflower, B'zar, and The Red Door. She was a member of Eastern Star and retired from Ingersoll.

She had varied interests and loved music and bells. She enjoyed the Silver Sneakers Program, as well as collecting paperweights, spending time with loved ones, drinking tea, discussing current events, and attending worship. Church events, spending time in prayer, reading and rhyming with her grandchildren. She also loved a trip to Aldi.

Her spirit, strength, and unconditional love will live on in all who knew her!

A heartfelt thank you to Mercy Hospice for their devoted care of Patricia in her final days. She loved each of you and especially enjoyed her chats with Ken. Thank you for bringing her grape juice.

"Give her the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates." Proverbs 31:31
