Patricia Anderson

Patricia E. Anderson of Rockford died on October 23, 2021, after a long life. She was born March 9, 1923, in Beloit, Wisconsin, the daughter of Joseph H. Padon and Iva (Reed) Padon. Pat graduated from West High School as part of the first graduating class in 1941. She married Donald F. Anderson on April 30, 1943 and was primarily a homemaker and volunteer. Pat was a Cub Scout den mother; the long-term treasurer and last surviving member who enjoyed over 60 years of service and fellowship in the Buckbee School Women’s Club; worked as a volunteer at the PA Peterson gift shop for over 30 years; served as a Jenny Lind volunteer at Swedish American Hospital for 54 years including various leadership roles; and numerous other volunteer activities. At Alpine Lutheran Church she was a three decade plus member of the choir, chair of the Bereavement Committee for 38 years, and on behalf of the church she participated in and served two terms as President of Church Women United. Pat is survived by her sons, Douglas R. (Sue) Anderson of Poway, California, and Terry D. (Mary) Anderson of Rockford, grandchildren Dan Anderson of Caldwell, Idaho, Gina (Jean-Baptiste de Vilmorin) Anderson of Sevres, France, Grant (Benita Chan) Anderson of New York City, great-grandchildren, Eliot and Apolline de Vilmorin, nephew Rodney (Suzette) Weaver, niece Carole Meyers, numerous cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews. Predeceased by parents, stepmother Gertrude (Ford) Padon, husband Donald, sister Dorothy Weaver, and brother-in-law, Bill Weaver.  Thanks to all the staff at Wesley Willows for the wonderful compassionate care which enhanced the last several years of her life. In addition, the family wants to thank the entire team at Mercyhealth Hospice Illinois for their compassionate assistance and support during the last three weeks of her life. Cremation rites were accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 6 at 11:30 am at Alpine Lutheran Church, 5001 Forest Ave., Rockford, IL 61108 with lunch to be served. In accordance with applicable governmental directives, masks will be required other than when eating or drinking.
