Owen Douglas Stanley was born on July 29, 1949, in Cullman, Alabama, to Earl and Artie Stanley. He passed away after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Owen was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Susan R. Stanley (Bender), on February 24, 2001. They were married at the Victorian Rose Garden Bed and Breakfast west of Rockford.
Throughout his working life, Owen was known for his strong work ethic and leadership. He held positions in sales and general management with Poolside Pros, Larson Sheet Metal, and Rockford Powertrain.
In his free time, Owen enjoyed golfing and was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He loved watching NASCAR racing on television and was deeply involved in the racing community. Owen proudly served as a pit crew member for the 5 and Drive at Rockford Speedway. Owen will be remembered for his love of racing, sports, and the many moments he shared with those closest to him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife Susan Stanley; sons, Mark (Tamara) Stanley, Scott (Reesa) Stanley; granddaughter, McKenna Stanley; siblings, Cindy (Ron) Marino, (Paris, TN), Mary Morgan, (Paris, TN); Fred (Toni) Stanley, (Apple Valley, CA); loving dog companion Rosie; He is predeceased by his parents, Earl and Artie Stanley; brothers Charles Stanley, Everett Stanley, Jimmy Stanley, Gerald Stanley, and Clyde Stanley; and his grandson Patryck Stanley.
