Orville Fant
March 4, 1933 — March 11, 2025
Orville Fant, aged 92, passed peacefully on March 11, 2025 at Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford. Born on March 4, 1933 in Sycamore Illinois, the son of Elleanora and Sigfred Fant. Attended Sycamore High School, and served three years in the Illinois National Guard. He graduated from Greer Technical Institute in Chicago, and began a career in Rockford as a diesel mechanic. Married Dorothy Miazga on July 7, 1956. He retired from Rockford Truck Sales in 1997.
In his free time he was actively involved in the P.B.B.A. (Park Boys Baseball Association) and volunteered as coach, and Commissioner. Other hobbies included bowling, and in the 1970's Orville obtained a private pilot's license and flew his own small engine Cessna airplane. During retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife Dorothy, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and restoring an antique Ford automobile.
Survived by his children, Dean (Robin) Fant, Steven Fant, Carol Markee, Connie (Kerry) Pond, and Susan Fant; 7 grandchildren, Ryan, Michael, Katie, Andrew, Steven, Allison, and Christopher. 4 great grandchildren, Madison, Henry, Greyson and Riley. Brother Rodney Fant, and sister Kathy Sandusky.
Predeceased by his parents, wife Dorothy, sister Joyce Klasing, brother Laverne Fant, and brother Harold Fant.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Orville was known for his honesty and work ethic, and quiet gentle nature. It was a pleasure to have known him.
