Norman Viel

Norman Roy Viel, 68, of Rock City, passed away in his home on August 19, 2021. Born August 11, 1953, in Davis, IL; son of Harm and Lois (Winche) Viel. Norman graduated from Winnebago High School and worked for Columbia Pipe until his health caused him to retire early. Norman married Kelly Kline on March 17, 1990. He was a farmer and enjoyed raising livestock. Norman was an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper; he also coached and pitched for baseball teams in Pecatonica and Seward for many years. He was a member of the German Valley United Methodist Church. Norman is survived by his wife Kelly Viel; children Amy (Kevin) Seyller, Melissa Viel, Samantha Viel, Heather (Bobby) Steines, Abigail Viel, and Joshua Viel, bonus son, Zacharias Lemoine; grandchildren Isaac, Gabriella, Diana, Luca, Allie, Cassie, Hailey, Zoe, Damien, Landon, Brooklyn, Samantha, and Angela; siblings, Patricia Siemens, Marlene (Russell) Siemens, Gary (Aleasa) Viel, and Linda (Craig) Clausen; sister-in-law Ann Viel; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, brother Gene Viel; brother-in-law Walter Siemens; and nephew Jeffrey Russell. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, August 26, 2021, in German Valley United Methodist Church, 7 Main St., German Valley, IL 61039. A visitation will be from 12 PM until time of service. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 712 Windsor Rd., Loves Park.
