Norma Jean Walden, 75, of Rockford, died November 6, 2019 in Swedish American Hospital. Born November 5, 1944 in Buffalo, New York; daughter of Francis V. and Shirley J. (Alexander) Sullivan. Graduated from Frontier High School in Hamburg, NY in 1962. She married Charles Jackson Walden on March 23, 1979 and he died June 18, 1982. She was of the Catholic faith. Norma Jean did many things over the years. She was a proofreader for Dixon Evening Telegraph back in the ‘70’s; she worked as a CNA at Fairhaven; and worked in retail at Bergner’s and more recently at Walmart. She enjoyed going to craft shows and thrift stores. She also was part of a Bunco group and enjoyed going to the gambling boat with her coworkers. Survivors include her children Kim (Larry Hartl) Keenum, Michael T. Hamas, Suzanne (Adam) Achilli; grandchildren Alexandra and Tyler Keenum; brother Thomas F. Sullivan; 2 nephews Tommy and Patrick; and former spouse Richard Arlen Hamas. She is predeceased by her parents, and her husband Charles. There will be a Memorial gathering 3-6 pm on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at the Navy Club, 2324 Charles Street, Rockford. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens at a later date. Stateline Cremations is assisting the family, 7307 N. Alpine Rd., Loves Park.
