With heavy hearts, we announce that Norma L. Traxel, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 27, 2025, at the age of 74, after a long illness. She was born on December 6, 1950, in Rockford, Illinois, daughter of William and Donna (Bosey) Ellefson.
She married her loving husband, David Traxel, on April 29, 1995. She attended West High School and Rock Valley College. She worked many years as a medical assistant starting her career at Rockford Memorial Hospital and also held various administrative, banking, and accounting roles throughout her professional life.
She adored spending time with her grandchildren and her three daughters, whom she affectionately called her "girls." She loved reading, playing bingo, shopping, sewing, crafts, decorating, and spending time outdoors tending to her flower garden and the birds. She cherished beautiful days in the sun, taking long walks at Baumann Park alongside her husband with their two dogs, Charlie and Mickey. She spent time on and off throughout her life as a homemaker, tending to and taking care of her family. Her gratitude for her family, fun-loving spirit, sense of humor, and beautiful smile will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her husband, Dave; daughters Nicole (Dan) Koblesky, Renee Woods, and Rachel (Keith) DeWitt; grandchildren, Anthony, Austin, Lucas, Andrew; great-grandchildren, Abrianna and Aiden; sisters, Jeanne (Bruce) Haase, Cheri Martinson; brother-in-law, Wayne (Linda) Traxel; nieces and nephews, Christine (Scott) Churchill, Darryl (Amy) Alms, Ryan (Christie) Haase, Chad and Nathan (Nellie) Martinson. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Mary, brothers Billy and Michael, and sister, Michelle (Russ) Miller.
The family would like to thank East Bank Center and Sanctuary Hospice for their loving care.
