Nancy Seymour

December 31, 1969 — November 28, 2022

Nancy Elizabeth (Reum) Seymour, 72, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 28, 2022, at Heritage Woods of Rockford. Nancy was born on April 4, 1950, to Mary Elizabeth (Cain) and William Sidney Reum in Rockford, where she was raised and lived her entire life. She attended West High School, graduating class of 1968. Nancy went on to attend Rockford Memorial’s X-Ray technician program, and later became the first ultrasound sonographer in the Rockford area. She was a faithful employee of Rockford Memorial Hospital from 1969-2014, where she worked for 45 years before retirement.  Nancy was a bookworm, whether it was Sci-Fi, Non-Fiction, or even the Bible, she had read it. This led to a great appreciation for Christian Eschatology. She also grew fond of watching movies and multiple different TV series in her retirement. She was an avid lover of Halloween, and looked forward to it each year. She took pride in her Halloween decorations, inside and outside of the house. She also loved Christmas, and had even more impressive decor. Above all else, Nancy had a wonderful fascination with nature and entomology, especially spiders. She believed in never harming them, and often reminded others of their importance. Every fall when the weather started getting chilly, she would meet new spiders and name them “Charlie” and “Charlotte”.
Our family would like to extend a deep appreciation to Promedica Hospice, the staff of Heritage Woods Rockford, and everyone who has provided care to Nancy these last few months. As a family, we will be forever grateful for the support and kindness shown.  She is survived by her daughters, Amy (Matthew) Powers and Linda (James) Mork; son, Andrew Seymour; grandchildren, Abigail Sitzman, Eleanor Powers, Luke Powers, and William Seymour; sister, Deborah Reum. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and William Reum; sister-in-law, Victoria “Starr” Morgan.  Per Nancy’s wishes instead of a service, she would love for you to take some time in nature, spend time with animals, or relax with a great book. In lieu of flowers, and Nancy’s request, please consider making a donation in her name to the Winnebago County Animal Shelter.
